World Mental Health Day is on the same day each year and its aim is to shine a light on the importance of mental wellbeing in this busy world.

Forever keen to share our favourite pearls of wisdom for better wellbeing; when it comes to mental health, we're big fans of connectivity specifically, both with one another and with the world around us.

Humans are social beings and require connection on a subliminal level, for both mental and physical wellbeing and it's important to ensure that we have a degree of connection within our daily life, to meet those needs.

We'll take this moment to pass on some of these tips in this blog post:

Tip 1 - We're all about having something in the diary to look forward to - whether for you that's a lunch with a colleague, a night at a gig with your bestie, or a coffee with a neighbour - a date in the diary when conversation will flow, is a very good thing.

Tip 2 - Even if you're not feeling sociable, reach out to someone to check in on how they are - doing the right thing, and thinking of others in turn makes us feel happier - fact. So even if you are feeling good, think about those who perhaps you haven't heard from or those you know might be struggling.

Tip 3 - Hand out compliments to strangers - you'll feel great, and they will too! Happy chemicals - dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin are all released when you extend a compliment to another - allowing for connection, and the removal of thoughts about yourself. You alone have the power to make someone's day better - how profound is that?

Tip 4 - Take notice when you are outside of what's going on around you - by looking down on your phone, or at the pavement you are missing an opportunity to connect! And when we say this, we mean both with nature and with other human beings. When we open our eyes to the world around us and note the blackbird communicating with one another or the ladybird in flight, we can feel more connected, fulfilled and contented.

Tip 5 - Take a walk - even just a short one - let those endorphins flow! It is true that when we move, we feel better - exercise triggers endorphins and elevates your mood, and new reports state that a sedentary life is worse than smoking, so get moving and enjoy a little convivial conversation in your local park or town and enjoy some 'good mornings' and 'good afternoons' with fellow pavement pounders.

However you choose to better improve your mental wellbeing, we hope that you might find some of our tips useful and might share one or two with those around you.

We're a community after all...
